Start motherboard without CPU

Hello, I’m building a new PC and I would like to test the compatibility of my motherboard with the RAM from my previous build. I haven't received the CPU yet, so I connected the motherboard and tried to power it on without the CPU to see with the LEDs if the RAM was detected by the motherboard, but nothing happens when I press the power button.
My motherboard: Asus TUF Gaming B550-Plus
The power supply works (it powered the previous build), the button does too, I’ve connected the 24-pin and 8-pin to the motherboard, and when I turn on the power supply, I see the ambient light of the motherboard, but absolutely no reaction when I press power. Is this normal?
Thank you in advance.

Hello

You're trying to start a car without the engine, so that's perfectly normal, and by the way, I don't know who gave you that idea but it's harmful to the motherboard.

Oh really, I checked beforehand and there are quite a few sources that say it's doable and none that say it could damage the motherboard.
Well, I'll wait to receive the CPU then, thanks.

Your sources know nothing at all

Hello

If a motherboard is not designed to start without a CPU, you will have to put back the old CPU and the old RAM. If everything is compatible, you should be able to do something in the meantime.

Oh really, so it's possible that it's just the model that's designed not to start at all without a CPU.
No, my old CPU is not compatible, so I'll wait to receive the new one then.

Hi

No PC can start without its processor

Indeed, where does this ridiculous idea claiming otherwise come from?
