Jdownloader 2 Download Speed Issues

Hello community,

I have a question about JDownloader 2. I installed it to avoid interruptions (or at least to have reconnections) during my downloads. The network at home is extremely poorly served (about 2Mb/s download speed) and at my girlfriend's place it's better (8.85Mb/s download speed). But my download speed remains the same (around 100Kb/s). I've looked in the settings but I can't find any restrictions. Does anyone know how to unlock this? Could it be a problem related to my computer and not JDownloader?

Thank you in advance!

Hello,

It all depends on what you are downloading and on what?

Check if the limit is not checked: (at the top left)

I download games for my PC from legal sites. And no matter the site, the result is always the same. My maximum speed limit is not checked!

RE_

You have the same speed at your girlfriend's, right?

And outside of JD2, how much do you reach on the same downloads?

That's right! No matter my Internet speed, the download speed of JD2 stays stuck at 100KB/s.

I just tested the same file to download outside of JD2 and I'm getting about 600KB/s...

Hello,

compare it with another download manager like IDM:

and see if it's better.

Note, free for 30 days.

RE_

Are the download directories the same in JD2 as in downloads outside of JD2?

Is it on the same partition / disk?

Have you changed any settings in JD2 since its installation?

Sorry for the delayed response...

The directory is still the same. As is the configuration.

I reinstalled JD2 to make sure I returned to the default configuration and the problem remains the same!

Hello,

Test your internet connection speed... https://www.speedtest.net/fr

You should try testing in safe mode with networking to see if the situation is the same.

In safe mode, I am at 2.69 MB down and 0.82 up.

However, the download speed of JD2 reaches about 330K/s, which is approximately 3 times faster!

Hello

The principle of JD2 is not necessarily to download one single file faster, but to download multiple files simultaneously from one or more servers.

In theory, it can therefore download one single file in several parts and reassemble it. The different parts can come from several servers and be downloaded simultaneously, which is where the time savings come from.

If only one server provides the file and does not allow multiple simultaneous connections from the same requesting PC: no simultaneous downloading of the different parts of the file, and no time savings.

This is why JD2 does not always download at the maximum speed allowed by the server; it also allows multiple PCs to download the same file at the same time with a relatively slow connection. Less waiting time on a server.

In exchange, we can download different files at the same time, download when we are not using the PC or when we are doing something else, stop and resume a download without having to start over from scratch, begin a download without having to wait for another one to finish, and have multiple different servers for loading a single file.

The greatest gain is achieved when many PCs are also servers and share their files. One of the PCs can then quickly reassemble a large file from many PCs.

Okay!

But why such a difference with safe mode?

Re

In safe mode, the download speed of JD2 reaches about 330K/s, which is about three times faster!

So when you're not in safe mode, other programs that are not Windows are doing other things at the same time and using and sharing with JD2 either bandwidth or disk usage; in any case, there are definitely more processes running on your PC.

You are therefore looking for a culprit in your PC, with another program having a higher likelihood of being the cause.

In any case, this certainly raises hopes for a possible improvement in JD2's current performance on your machine.

If in safe mode, the download is faster, check if it's not your antivirus that is throttling it, or a VPN that starts with Windows.

Thank you for your responses. I will dig through my programs and try to find that or those "disruptors"! I do have a vpn but the speed doesn't change whether it's active or not!
