Screen resolution setting grayed out

Hello, I just reset an ASUS laptop by reinstalling Windows 10 Home edition.

Earlier, in the settings, I could change the screen display resolution. Now, this setting appears grayed out on the screen and I can't modify it. It's currently locked at the value 1920x1080. The characters are too small for me. Thank you for your help.

EDIT: I checked the advanced display settings: there is only one mode available: 1920x1080.

Best regards

Hello,

The causes are usually the absence of the appropriate graphics card or monitor driver, see what the device manager says (in the last case, Windows loads a generic driver instead of the one specific to the model).

Go to the manufacturer's website and reinstall the drivers corresponding to the operating system and model.

Hello and thank you for the response. Indeed, I have a problem with the installed driver.

My graphics card is an Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M.

The installed driver is the one for the Microsoft basic Intel video card.

I searched online for the driver for the Nvidia GeForce GTX 950M but without success.

That said, in the list of my installed programs, I do have a Nvidia folder containing a bunch of folders and files.

Question: how to switch from the Microsoft driver to the Nvidia one?

Regards

I don't know, the discussion is also fiercely debated on these forums regarding which of the 2 graphics cards takes precedence and when.

But I don't think that's the issue; even the basic Intel graphics chipset is able to do the job with its driver, and I’m more inclined to believe it's a screen driver problem (I recently had an issue with an external monitor, but that doesn’t change much in the question).

Drivers on the internet are a jungle because there are dozens of unreliable sites; the driver certainly exists if the card is intended for Windows 10, but you probably need additional information (hardware ID number, etc.), so I redirect you there as well to possibly start a new discussion in the appropriate threads on the forum.
