Alcatel Smile combo completely silent
patreig -
No sound, no beeps, no ringtones (including going through the menu and testing various melodies), recorded messages can be played (their characteristics appear on the screen) but I can't hear anything. It happened almost all of a sudden (some crackling recently).

Hello,
There is a high chance that the batteries in your device are worn out and therefore unable to provide the necessary power.
I therefore invite you to replace these batteries.

Yes, that's what I thought. I replaced the battery in the handset, left it charging for 24 hours, with no effect. I don't know if there's another battery somewhere (in the base?). On the other hand, the screen is perfectly lit, the directory is still there, and the battery charge icon is at 3 bars. Could a component of the speaker have died?

No, there are no other batteries in the base.
Have you checked how the volumes are set... for the ringtone, the earpiece, and the hands-free?
No icon in the shape of crossed-out notes (ringer off)?

I have indeed checked all of that. And I don't believe that the volume (or even the silencing) of the ringtone would remove the beeps. I'm afraid I'll have to buy the same model again while facing the task of memorizing the 50 addresses in the directory!

Indeed, if the battery is new and the volumes are not set to zero, there is a good chance that the handset is seriously faulty.
No sound at all, even in speakerphone mode?

Nothing. Total silence! Moreover, if I call a busy number, I hear the voicemail message in the earpiece, and I hear absolutely nothing if I activate the speaker (hands-free mode). All of this leads me to specifically incriminate this component.

I think it's time to consider reinvesting.
On this type of phone, I don't know who manages the base or combined directory?
It would be good to see if there is a "copy list" function or something similar in the directory menu. If it exists, it should be possible to copy from the old handset to the replacement, provided you pair the old one with the base of the new one and then carry out the transfer.
