The F6 key turns on and off

Hello, I have an HP laptop that must be around 6 years old, and today the F6 key lights up and goes off, which cuts the sound and then brings it back without me being able to understand what’s causing it. I looked a bit at what people are saying here (since I don't know anything) and someone advised disabling the key in the BIOS but then it stayed lit all the time and I lost sound, so I put it back. I don’t know the model of the PC but I’m on Windows 10. Can someone help me? Thanks in advance.
