Open Office: slow file opening times
larc -
Hello,
I work on Windows 10 and use Libre Office Writer. Upon returning from vacation, I discovered a slow opening issue with odt files in Libre Office Writer. They now take ONE MINUTE to open, whereas it used to take a few seconds. I installed the latest version of Libre Office (7.3.1.1) but it's still just as slow... I unchecked 'java', but nothing changes. If anyone has an idea where the problem might be coming from... Thank you!

Hello
in case of malfunction, try purging the profile
Close Open Office or Libre Office
press the WINDOWS key (a flag) and R (simultaneously).
-Then, type %appdata%
-Look for the OpenOffice or LibreOffice folder
-Rename it to OldOpenOffice or OldLibreOffice
Thank you for the reply!
...but no, my files (there are almost 500 of them!!) still open very slowly in Libre Office.
However, Libre Office opens very quickly, and when I open a new document, it also opens very quickly. I even tried copying the text from a file that opens slowly and pasting it into a new document, and that new document also opens very quickly... Hmm, strange...
RE
Do the files that take a long time to open contain images?
If so, check the memory allocation dedicated to images.

Hi
does it take longer by launching LibreOffice and then opening the document via LibreOffice
see by installing the latest versions on the official site LibreOffice
make sure to install the 64-bit x86 (32-bit) version
before installation, purge the profile again
No, it's just as slow when opening the document directly, or by opening it through Libre Office after launching Libre Office.
It is indeed the latest version from the official site that I installed, and yes, in 64 bit.
As soon as I have a minute, tomorrow afternoon I think, I will try to reinstall it, this time by purging the profile beforehand...
In any case, thank you for the idea!
Wow! It was easier than that! Having not used my computer for a month, a security update had been done automatically in the meantime. I just had to go check 'load Libre Office at system startup' in the 'quick start' section of Libre Office, and now all my documents open quickly!
Thank you very much for your responses.
Hello,
Same issue as Kotchalka. And thanks to Djimel50 for the printer lead.
After removing a printer (USB and not network) that I no longer use, the issue is resolved.
Exactly the same symptoms recently on W10.
More than 15 seconds to open an odt file containing only text and a table.
The same happens if Writer is already open.
However, I just installed a printer on the box...
And by uninstalling it, no more problems!
Writer must be trying to access printers before opening the file.
This is a major bug that should be reported to the LibreOffice developers, if you know how to contact them.
