How to have the same taskbar on 2 screens

Hello everyone,

I work with two screens and an extended desktop. The Windows taskbar is indeed present on both screens.

However, on the right side of the taskbar of the main screen (laptop), there is the clock with the icons of ongoing or background tasks displayed.

On the second screen, there are no icons of ongoing or background tasks next to the clock.

I checked the taskbar settings in Windows but didn’t find anything regarding this adjustment.

Therefore, is there a way to display the icons of ongoing or background tasks on both screens?

There is Dual Monitor Taskbar, but it adds a second taskbar above the Windows taskbar.

I can possibly disable the display of the taskbar when there are multiple screens so that only the Dual Monitor Taskbar is visible, but in the Dual Monitor Taskbar, I don’t see the shortcuts to the applications I would like to launch. There are only the icons of the applications that are on the second screen, which then disappear when I move the application window back to the first screen.

Consequently, is there a way to have the Windows taskbar identical on both screens, without having to install a third-party application like Dual Monitor Taskbar, so that I can launch an application from the Windows taskbar from any screen?

Hello @blackmefias_3350,

Thank you for your response.

The reason for extending my desktop is to work with 2 applications at the same time where I need to see both applications on each of the screens.

Too bad, I’ll settle for two different taskbars. It’s not the end of the world either.

It was just for a little more comfort.

Have a great rest of the day.

Hello,

Either you extend your screen to another one, or you duplicate this one.

By duplicating screen 1 to screen 2, you will get exactly the same things: desktop, open programs, etc. This is useful if you are using a 13" laptop and want to display it on a 27" screen, for example, for more comfort.

On the other hand, extending the desktop allows the user, who is doing programming for example, to have their open program on one screen and the visual output of the program on the other.

After that, the display of the bars depends on how you configure your environment (desktop); there may be options to change the taskbar.
