Hello,

I am using Google Chrome on an Asus PC and, since today, whenever I perform a search on Google, I am instantly redirected, against my will, to Microsoft Bing.

However, I do not wish to use Bing as my search engine. I have removed this option in my settings, but nothing works! I have also consulted several sites that claimed to solve this problem, but it doesn't work! How can I permanently get rid of Bing?

Thank you.

      Hello,

in Chrome, click on the 3 little dots and SETTINGS:

then as shown in the image on the left, Search engine and finally in the center of the screen select your desired search engine.

After that, it is possible that you are infected by a hijacker, in which case use.

      Analyze and fix

After fixing, the PC will ask to restart, so please restart.

    Good evening,

It may depend on your "web browser," for example, Firefox; you need to go to the settings ==> search or about:preferences#search and change ==> "The default search engine"... you put Google instead of Bing...

For other browsers, the idea is the same, only the steps change.

But it could very well be more complicated... so, that's the first approach.

    Hello,

Thank you for your reply. I use Google Chrome, as I mentioned above. I tried to change the settings, but nothing works! Moreover, I noticed that Google Chrome was already selected as my default search engine...

Additionally, I noted that Microsoft Edge updated itself between June 16 and today (June 18). Therefore, I’m beginning to wonder if there isn't a cause-and-effect link... I tried to uninstall this browser since I never use it, but I found out that it’s impossible!

In short. Since my settings haven't changed on Chrome, I wonder what might be causing this automatic redirection. Do you have any other suggestions? Thank you.

    P. S. : I specify that at the moment I start my search, Google does indeed appear as expected for a second or two before Microsoft Bing takes over for a reason that escapes me.
