Connecting soundbar to Panasonic plasma TV

Hello everyone,
I just bought a Bomaker Ondine III soundbar and I can't get it to work with my Panasonic TH-46PZ81E "Viera" plasma TV from 2010.
The soundbar has 3 outputs: RCA, Optical, HDMI ARC.
The TV has 2 outputs: RCA, Optical.
When connecting either the optical or RCA, there's no sound from the soundbar. The TV remote has a "Viera" function in the menu to access external speakers, but it says "function not available".
What’s the solution?? Thank you in advance.

    Hello and welcome to this forum,
    The "viera" function allows you to use a single remote control for multiple devices of the same brand
    Rather check the audio menu of the TV and activate "external speakers" or "optical" or something like that

    In the audio menu, there is no option for external speakers. As a result, the TV's speakers located at the back work with the soundbar when it is activated! Whether on RCA or optical
    I chose the soundbar option to have sound in front and not behind, because my TV is in the middle of the room and it was louder at the back than at the front!!! Now it’s .... in front and behind.
    We will make do with it if there is no solution to turn off the sound at the back of the TV.

      The solution to mute the TV is to plug headphones into the TV's headphone jack.

    I already have a headset permanently connected to the headphone output that has never cut off the outside sound.

      You should have the option to mute it, check the audio menu.

    In the audio menu, the only option is to mute the "headphones," and if I mute the TV, I can still faintly hear the sound from the soundbar.
    However, while digging deeper, the Viera Link function is usable with HDMI ARC. The TV has 2 outputs,
    HDMI 1 and HDMI 2, and I can't figure out if HDMI 2 and HDMI ARC are the same thing. In that case, by connecting to HDMI 2 on the TV and HDMI ARC on the soundbar, I should be able to access Viera Link / speaker selection; but..... I'm hesitant!!!! It could cost an arm and a leg.

    In principle, the HDMI ARC port is indicated.
    And why should it cost an arm and a leg?

    Hello Andy,
    Thank you for all your efforts, but it doesn’t change anything. What is unpleasant is this echo caused by the mix of the TV speakers and the soundbar.
    I will continue my research and I will provide the solution... if it exists.

    There should be a delay setting, see audio menu

    Eureka, it's resolved!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    All I had to do was connect the soundbar via optical to the optical output of the box and use the sound remote of the box, setting the TV volume to 1.......
    Now it's great, I no longer have that echo effect or sound coming from behind the TV.
