Hello,

I want to move my system folders, documents, and pictures to another location on a different hard drive inside my computer.
The problem is that Windows 11 has automatically set these folders to "OneDrive". I only use this cloud to share other documents.

When I try to change them, I get these error messages:

So I'm forced to save my documents and pictures by selecting the quick access I've linked to them.
I would like to change that by moving them to my preferred location on "D:".

What can you advise me to do to make these changes, please?

It's not a huge issue, but it's starting to become annoying.

Thank you for your responses that will help me.

    Hello,

-1-Try interrupting the One Drive synchronization.

Or stop the synchronization of folders.
But this will not move the One Drive folder.

Then move your images folder for example.
To do this, follow this procedure

    -2- The ideal solution.
==► Change the location of your OneDrive folder
    Open One Drive
    Settings --►Account --►Unlink this PC
    In images

    Hello,

To move data folders like Documents, Images, Videos, Downloads, etc., to D, follow this tutorial which is quite clear:
    http://www.chantal11.com/2009/05/deplacer-mes-documents-ou-tout-dossier-personnel-sur-autre-partition-windows-7-8-10/

To make it easier, start by creating the new folders on D. Then you will move the contents by following the tutorial.

      Hi Pierrot,

I missed the CCM tutorial --► Change the location of user libraries in Windows

      See you later!

        Hi pistouri,

        I can't complain!
I stuck to this tutorial without considering that there might be a better one on CCM.

        I'll remember for next time!

Thank you for your responses, pistouri & pierr10.

I have tried everything that was suggested on your pages as well as what you advised me.
    Unfortunately, it still doesn't work...

    Good evening,

There are indeed in the OneDrive folder subfolders Images, Documents

But you also have on C: the folders Documents, Images in Users. For example:
    .

It is these folders that are in users\<yourname> that you can move using the method I indicated.

There is a synchronization to the OneDrive folders. But the folders in users must exist.

    Hello,
Yes, those folders are indeed in my "Onedrive" folder

But these folders are also used for my documents that are on the computer. I've been trying to change the default backup location without success. I keep getting the same error messages, for both the "Documents" folder and the "Pictures" folder.
I even modified the registry; it puts the folders I want in the registry, but in the explorer, it’s still the "Onedrive" folders that are default.

      Hello,

I understand that it's Documents in OneDrive that is used for managing documents on the computer.

However, I would like to know if there is a Documents folder in Users (even if that folder is empty).

        Good evening,

There is indeed the folder "C:\Users\\Documents" and the images folder. These 2 folders are empty, except for the images folder where there is one for "film rolls."

In the directory where I would like them to be set by default to "D:\", they are also present. But the messages keep appearing when I try to set them as default locations.
Even when I click on "default values."
It seems like it remains stuck on my "Onedrive" folder, which is basic.

Thank you for your help anyway.

    Good evening,

Start by stopping the sync to OneDrive.

    - Click on the OneDrive icon in the Taskbar (icon on the right and may be in the hidden icons).

    - Then click on the gear icon for Settings, then on Settings.

    - Go to the Backup tab and click on Manage Backup.

Uncheck Desktop, Documents, Pictures and close the windows.

The sync will stop, and you should have your documents in the Users folder; the same goes for the pictures.

You can then try to move the data folders to D, as I explained in the response <2>.

    Good evening,
I did as you advised, except that I have a new error:

I deleted the corresponding file and it won't budge... I can't uncheck "documents" or "images". When before I could do that.

Onedrive is starting to be quite a hassle.

Thank you for your help in any case.
