    Hello

Have you used VLC media player? It will allow you to play the video. If you are using the Chromebook one, you will need to convert your videos to MP4 or H264 format with a free video conversion software, for example.

Thank you for this quick response. In fact, I'm also unable to open VLC (white frame). I use this device in the field to read my SD cards from my camera traps. I can play all other video formats except AVI, even though it is compatible with this model of Chromebook...

      Hello,
A Chromebook can read an .avi file; you can verify this by downloading an .avi file from the internet. For example, this one: https://www4.ac-nancy-metz.fr/physique/ancien_site/video/exemples/chutehuile.avi
You will see that it opens with VLC without any manipulation.

It is likely because your file does not exactly comply with the Audio Video Interleave packaging standard that it cannot be opened. In other words: it’s the file that is the issue, not the video player.

    Hello

Thank you for your prompt response.
You are probably right, as I use this Chromebook in the field to read the SD cards from my photo traps, and it turns out that it can read an AVI video format from one camera but not from the others. It is worth noting that it reads all other video formats.
    Have a good evening.
