Hello
After cleaning the waste ink absorber tank, I'm looking to reset the copy counter to stop
the yellow light flashing on the far right (white triangle with an electrical hazard symbol inside)
I haven't found anything after a long search online...
Does anyone know the procedure?
Thanks in advance
(Canon Pixma MP230 printer)

Hello ....

I suggest you check out ► This link and use the Service Tool V3400 utility ... which you can download ► Here

The exact procedure to reset the ink counter to zero for the Canon printer

1 ► Turn off the printer
2 ► Connect it via USB (no WIFI for this operation).
3 ► Turn on the printer to load the necessary drivers via USB.
4 ► Turn off the printer.
5 ► Press the Resume button (red triangle in a red circle), while holding it, press Power.
6 ► As soon as the Power light is steadily on, release the Resume button and press it 5 times again.
7 ►Release both buttons, the power light will blink then become steady.

Note ► The procedure for steps 5-6 and 7 may be different depending on the printer model

The printer is now in Service mode
✅ Launch the Service Tool V3400 program that you downloaded from the link mentioned in #3

8 ► In the Set Destination section, replace JPN (japan) with EUR)
9 ► In the Main tab, click on EEPROM and in the dropdown menu that opens, choose Cassette.
10 ► The printer will print a diagnostic sheet.
11 ► The second line marked D indicates the counters as a percentage of BK and CL (black and color).
12 ► To reset, in the Clear ink counter section, choose Main_Black in the Absorber menu and confirm by Set.
13 ► Return to the Absorber menu and repeat the operation with Main_Color
14 ► Click on EEPROM again then CASSETTE, on the printed sheet, in line "D ", the counters should have returned to 0.

The printer is reset.
  • I must specify that this operation is a troubleshooting step that allows the printer to restart and print; it should be followed by a cleaning of the absorber tray to avoid overflow......

And that's another story as you need to disassemble the printer to access the ink absorber, and especially to find a replacement one online!!

For your information, this has been done and resolved ► Here on a different model but the principle is the same

It would be nice of you to come back here to share the result obtained so the community can benefit...
