How to open a fit file on pc

Hello, I am transferring files from my Garmin GPS to my PC. These files are in .fit format. I cannot open them.
What is the method?

    .fit files are not "openable" on PC, but are dedicated to the Garmin embedded system.

      Your site doesn't explain how to open them!! Since it's impossible on Windows, but "usable" only with Garmin Connect and definitely not editable/openable.
