C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\eelam.sys is corrupted

Hello,

Following the uninstallation of the ESET Nod 32 antivirus, the Windows repair is stuck in a loop on my PC.
I have a message saying:
Failed to load the operating system because a critical system driver is missing or contains errors:
File: \Windows\system32\DRIVERS\eelam.sys
Error code: 0xc000000f

What should I do to get my PC to start normally? Do I need to retrieve this driver and if so, how?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello,

Try this:

=> Turn off the PC

=> Start the PC and when the Windows logo appears (or the spinning circle), force it to shut down by pressing the power button.

=> Do this 2 or 3 times until you see automatic repair.

=> You will arrive on a page, go to Advanced options -> Troubleshoot -> Advanced options -> Startup Settings -> Restart -> Press 5 (Safe Mode with Networking) or 4 (Safe Mode) -> do you reach the desktop

Hello,

First of all, thank you for taking the time to respond to me.

I did what you told me, and whether I choose 4 or 5, the automatic recovery restarts and I end up back on the page that says the PC could not start properly...

Do you have any other ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Hello Anita,

I think you'll need to reinstall Windows from an ISO:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/recovery-options-in-windows-31ce2444-7de3-818c-d626-e3b5a3024da5

It seems to me like the best solution

Am I going to lose my files?

In the advanced options, I also have: "Refresh your PC"
but I didn't dare to do it because I'm afraid of losing my files.

However, by pressing F8 (Disable early launch anti-malware protection) at the moment you told me to try F4 or F5 for starting in safe mode, I reach my desktop.
But if I restart, it starts all over again...

I have exactly the same issue, have you managed to resolve the problem since then?

RE_

You told me to try F4 or F5 for safe mode startup, I get to my desktop.

When you press F5 (with network), once on the desktop, do you have internet access?
