CRT monitor DB9 connection

Hello everyone

I have an old CRT monitor that I've had for a long time, and I want to do something with it. The thing is, it only has one connector, which turns out to be a DB9 connector.

So for me, I have two possibilities: either it's a serial monitor that communicates via the COM1 port at the back of the tower, or it's a regular monitor but with a DB9 connection instead of the DB15 VGA (in which case an adapter would be enough?)

I tried connecting it to my tower, but when I try to send something to it, no matter the transmission speed, it only displays small visual interference that disappears immediately.

In your opinion, is it a serial monitor or just a regular monitor with a different (maybe older) connection?

Thank you for your help.
