The version 20H2
Use the tool to create a minimum 8GB USB drive to update Windows:
Windows 11 if compatible, you can check with WhyNotWin11
https://github.com/rcmaehl/WhyNotWin11/releases
Windows 10 https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows10/
Windows 11 https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows11
If you already have the Windows ISO file, which you can also download with the tool, you can create your USB drive with Rufus
If the PC is old, you need to create the drive in MBR mode
If it is newer (Windows 8 or above) in GPT mode > For Windows 11 GPT
Uninstall any installed antivirus or firewall and restart
Click on setup.exe in the USB drive.
It is possible without a USB drive, but if there is a crash, you won't have a lifeline.

If the problem persists, check with UnHackMe if there's a policy that has been set on Defender, and delete it.
You can check your system with UnHackMe, the "First Scan" at installation may find something.
Be careful before deleting, as it may involve legitimate files, which are necessary for startup or the functioning of the PC (even if they may be seen as bad by UnHackMe).
Take your time, review all the details, do your research.
Analyze unknown files with VirusTotal Uploader > Right click > Send To > VirusTotal
(Download the App here)
https://support.virustotal.com/hc/en-us/articles/115002179065-Desktop-Apps
You need to show hidden files in the explorer with View > Options > View
(To see all files).
You can use "Reanimator" by the button next to the clock, close the window in front by the [X] at the top right, and go to the "Reanimator" tab > Anti Spyware Full Check to learn more.
Note: UnHackMe is a 30-day trial version.
RegRun Reanimator is similar and free, does a little less.
