Incomplete cleaning Edge Chromium with Ccleaner

Hello and best wishes to everyone
My wife regularly uses Ccleaner on her phone. She browses with Edge. However, for some time now, the scan shows files for Edge that cannot be deleted, even after two or three scan runs. These files, coming from Edge, are marked as preserved even though all the application boxes are checked for the scan.
Can someone explain to me why and how to fix this? My wife doesn't like seeing leftover files after a cleanup, even if it prolongs the startup time of her PC.
Thanks in advance.

Otherwise, CCleaner may have already suggested closing Edge for cleaning, and you responded no and checked "Don't ask again."

You should find this in its settings, or uninstall CCleaner using Revo Uninstaller Free and clean everything to reinstall it.

    Hello Fabul
I'm going to look into the problem today; apparently I hadn't changed anything and I had the same settings as on the desktop PC.
    Thank you for your intervention.

    Hello,

    CCleaner
These files, originating from Edge, are marked as preserved even though all application boxes are checked for analysis.

Leave the default settings in CCleaner.

You didn't say whether you clean the registry with CCleaner?

    In CCleaner, disable smart cleaning.

    Edge Chromium
Open Edge Chromium, go to the small horizontal dots located at the top right
    Left menu --►System and performance
    Disable:
    --►Fast Startup
--►Continue running background extensions and apps when Microsoft Edge is closed

Schedule automatic cleanup on closing Edge Chromium.
Open Edge Chromium, go to the small horizontal dots located at the top right
Left menu --►Privacy, search, and services
On the right section --► Clear browsing data
Click on the line --►Choose what to clear every time you close the browser

    Select the settings as below.

    Close Edge.

    Cleaning CCleaner
Wait 20 seconds before launching CCleaner so that the Edge Chromium process is completely closed.
    Start the analysis.

    The registry if you wish.

No later than yesterday, CCleaner is now available in the Microsoft Store.
    Read this post
With the constraints of CCleaner under Windows 10 or Windows 11.

    Info
Make sure that Edge Chromium is up to date.
That's what happened to me upon launching Edge (update available, do you want to download it?)

Or clear everything in the Edge Chromium address bar and do a copy/paste --► edge://settings/help
If an update is available, Edge will download it.
Otherwise, Edge Chromium is up to date.

Also check that Edge Chromium does not start on boot.
Launch the task manager --► Startup tab
Disable Microsoft Edge if you see it.

    I greet fabul in passing
