Hello, I have a big problem with a repeater that I just bought in order to benefit from the internet connection provided to me by my landlords' livebox located on the floor below my apartment. I was planning to place the repeater where I get a signal so that I can connect all over my apartment with my computer (since right now I can only sit in front of the door lest I lose the signal).
Anyway, I bought a Belkin "wireless G universal Range extender / Access point" and after following the very basic installation steps (detecting the network with the livebox in association mode), my computer still only recognizes the livebox network... at no point does it indicate that it is picking up a signal from the repeater.
And worse, when running ipconfig/all, the repeater does not appear.
How can I get my computer to recognize the repeated signal, please?
Thank you very much.

The answers read are not sufficient; I am providing here VERY detailed information; it is a phenomenal product but the procedure must be followed exactly; those who have already attempted MUST IMPERATIVELY reset the original data before following these instructions.
1) Check the BOX settings (I am assuming this is the general case; otherwise the procedure must be slightly different but not too much)
The Box must have AES encryption; this is imperative because the Belkin will not recognize TKIP encryption!! This can be seen by entering the router's interface (the box) at 192.168.1.1; do not change the other settings or the provided key or the one you chose; it has nothing to do with it. Then check that the simple pairing function of the box is activated; you can easily verify it; if you press the appropriate button for a second, the wifi LED should blink. I now assume you have these settings on your box.
Uncheck MAC filtering if this is not done.
2) Connect the Belkin to your PC, for example a laptop (I am assuming that if you have a desktop PC you cannot be close to the box); the connection is made with the supplied ETHERNET cable; DISABLE THE WIFI ON THE LAPTOP; in the properties of the LOCAL network card, go to TCP / IP (ipv4) and insert the following parameters (MANDATORY):
IP address 192.168.2.10
the subnet mask should automatically display check that it is 255.255.0; then default gateway 192.168.2.254.
Confirm and restart while leaving the Belkin plugged.
Normally the WIFI SHOULD be disabled when you log in.
DISABLE ANTIVIRUS AND FIREWALL.
Open a web page at the address: 192.168.2.254.
Normally you are on the Belkin interface.
2) Belkin Configuration
a) Security tab:
enter your WEP or WPA key here, ensuring that the encryption is THE SAME as that of the box (I took AES) BEFORE VALIDATING, press the pairing button of the box; when the wifi LED blinks, validate your key on the Belkin interface; then enter the Basic tab; there check that the "wireless repeater" mode is ACTIVE.
Go to the PARENT AP SSID field and enter YOUR BOX NAME, this is the SSID of your box or your network. DO NOT CHANGE THE "BELKIN 54g" SSID; press the pairing button of your box and validate the changes on the interface.
then, the last VERY IMPORTANT step, go to specify IP address and enter:
192.168.1.254 (WARNING, I DID NOT MAKE A MISTAKE, it is a 1 and not a 2)!!!!
press the pairing button on your box and validate.
in network connections, RIGHT CLICK ON LOCAL NETWORK and in properties of the TCP / IP internet protocol set back to automatic.
Unplug the Belkin; there should only be two green LEDs lit; the search LED should turn off quickly.
Restart the PC; reactivate the Wifi, check that at the address 192.168.1.254, you have the connection with the Belkin interface; if so, you are good to go. After that, place the Belkin where the two green LEDs light up and you're good OLIVIER GEBUHRER

first of all thank you for these very clear explanations.
But ... on my side, it's impossible to succeed: the cable connection between the microphone and Belkin for the setup keeps crashing! I have to unplug and plug it back in every time!!!
And with a new generation Livebox, does the Wi-Fi link happen automatically, please?
Thank you for your help
