A game that closes by itself

Hello everyone,

I really need help this time.
Recently, I installed a game that just came out called "Century: Age of Ashes." The installation went smoothly, taking 7 minutes for 10 GB. However, when I tried to launch the game to test it, nothing happened. Steam showed that it was running, but it closed because I could restart it from Steam. I found this strange, so I decided to restart my PC. Once that was done, I waited for my PC to boot up completely, I relaunched the game, and it started! But just as I reached the welcome screen (where you have to press a key to start the game), meaning 2-3 seconds after launching the game, it closed itself.

So if anyone on the forum has experienced the same issue with another game, could you please explain how to fix the problem?

Good evening,
I had almost the same issue with Far Cry 3, coming from Ubisoft Connect.

What I advise you to do is to open Steam as an admin, meaning you need to click 'Run as administrator' in the context menu after right-clicking on the Steam icon. Normally, the game should launch without any problems.

Note: If you have the game outside of Steam (which means it's not necessary to launch the game via Steam), follow the same steps.

If the problem persists, in the worst cases, try changing the compatibility of Steam.

1) Right-click on the Steam icon
2) Click on Properties
3) Go to the Compatibility tab
4) In the 'Compatibility mode' section, check the box Run this program in compatibility mode for.
5) Choose the latest Windows version (usually Windows 8 or 7). If it doesn't work, try the ones that are a bit lower, but don't go below older versions (for example, below Windows Vista).

If the problem still persists, let me know in the replies!

Best regards

Hello again!

I tried what you told me and nothing works... I can't even launch the game as an administrator from my desktop.

It's the same for compatibility mode; I tried several previous versions but that didn't do anything.

Have a good day!
