Hello,

I have a PC with an Asus h61h2-ad motherboard with an Intel Core i3 3.4 GHz with a TDP of 65 Watts (the maximum TDP accepted by the motherboard) and 8 GB of RAM running Windows 10.

This motherboard only supports a maximum of 8 GB.
Could that change if the Windows system is 64-bit?

Can I install an i5-3570K processor, 3.4 GHz, with a TDP of 77 Watts?
Or should I stick with an i5-3570S, 3.1 GHz with a TDP of 65 Watts or my i3 3.4 GHz?

Can a TDP higher than what the motherboard allows cause issues?

Thank you for your answers.

Hello,
wouldn't it be rather Acer?

Your Windows is already 64-bit otherwise there would only be 3GB out of 8GB usable by Windows.

Don’t exceed the TDP recommended by the manufacturer, you risk damaging more than anything else; you could fry the CPU and/or motherboard and/or power supply.

What’s your i3? (download cpu-z)

You might be able to upgrade to an i5-3570S or i7-3770S, but I can't be 100% sure it's compatible.

Here’s a list of CPUs that are supposed to be compatible: https://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-ECS/H61H2-A(V1.0).html

Good evening,
Yes, it's an Acer, I was mistaken.

My i3 3240 3.4GHz

I found some information about the motherboard, and I can only install i5, i3, ...

I wanted to install a graphics card, but I read that for PCI Express 2.0 x16, I should use a GT 730.

Can you confirm this?

No, you can use any graphics card; the PCIe x16 slots are backward compatible, there will just be a bit less performance.
You can post a picture of the back of your case to see if you need a low profile card, and a picture of the power supply label to check its wattage?

For the processors, you shouldn't have any problems with the two I provided.

For the graphics card, since you say that PCIe x16 is backward compatible, can I put a PCIe x16 3.0?

My case is a small OEM, so it needs to be low profile.
But I can buy one that isn't.

Because I also plan to buy a PC case, but I'm not sure what size to choose between a mid-tower and a full-tower.

For the power supply, I need to buy a better one because it's a 400 Watt no name.

Yes, you can install a PCIe 3.0

With 400W, you can install most graphics cards, just check if there are PCIe connectors.

Regarding the case, it is likely that the motherboard will not fit in standard cases.

I am going to buy a Zalman Z1 case, with 2 RGB fans for €35.
