That's not quite right. It's 1MB (megabyte) that equals 1Mo and not 1Mb (megabit). We have:

1MB=1Mo=8Mb.

Absolutely, even though this is true in the vast majority of cases now.

We could have Bytes ranging from 1 to 48 bits. And some specific fields still use 4-bit bytes.

Whereas an octet has always been and will always be 8 bits.
