Beginner on WhatsApp (group chat)?

Hello,

I don't know anything about WhatsApp... :-(, I'm being offered to be added to a chat group.
So I obviously have to give my number to "the group administrator", but once they have done their part, I obviously need to install WhatsApp on my phone (by creating my account/profile),
but will I automatically see the name of the group appear, or should I ask the person who manages the group beforehand??

    I would also like to know:

    -/ when I log into the app,
    in the chat group, will I see the names of each person with their phone number? And will these people be automatically saved in my contacts?

    -/ Can we deactivate the app (to have some peace for a while) or does it work like emails, meaning if we don’t do updates, we don’t receive new messages?
    I’m sorry for these questions... but I’m completely new to this :-((

      >> You can put a discussion group on "silent mode" for 8 hours, a week, or indefinitely, but for the latter case, you need to remember to disable it. The principle prevents you from getting notifications constantly.

    Hi,

    My account has been created but I don't see the discussion group; we only see it when there are messages exchanged. ??? (I thought there was some sort of history?)

    Note: When I created my account, it sent me a code by SMS with the link, but there was a mobile phone number at the top of the message starting with 07...) what does that mean???

      No, you don't have access to the discussions before you joined the group. Only the messages since you’ve been here.

    I have successfully created my account and I can see the exchanges.

    Question:
    Do the contacts I have on my phone automatically know that I have a WhatsApp account now? (of course provided that they are already on this network)

      Hello.

      Since the time I've been using WhatsApp, I've never received notifications about new WhatsApp users joining the app (unlike Signal or others).

      You have to indulge your curiosity in your WhatsApp contact list to see if new names have appeared.
