Styles apply to the entire document

Hello,
I have had a problem for a long time regarding styles (and also text alignments), which happens not only on Google Docs but also on other text editors, like LibreOffice.
In fact, when I apply a style to a portion of text, it affects the entire document, and all the text written in the document then becomes the same style as what I just selected.
This also happens on another computer. I really don't understand where this could come from; I've never tinkered with the settings...

Reminders:- The style you select applies to the paragraph you are in.
- The paragraphs you create afterwards retain this style.
