Hello,
I had my laptop (an Acer) stolen two days ago. I went to file a police report, and they need my serial number to identify it if they find my laptop.
I can't find the box for my laptop, and I understood that it might be possible to find the serial number on purchase invoices.
I can access my invoice from the Fnac website, but it's not listed there. I went to the store, and they told me they don’t put the serial numbers on their invoices.
I'm wondering what to do now. I literally have my big project on that computer. Is it possible to get a copy of the warranty from FNAC (online or by requesting in-store)? Because I thought the serial number should be on it.
Do you have any solutions to find this serial number? I was thinking of emailing ACER directly...
Thank you in advance for your help!

Hello
Bad news unfortunately, if you haven't noted it down and have no other place to find it, if you haven't registered it on Acer's own site, even Acer won't be able to help you. Acer has no way of knowing which serial number corresponds to your machine among the thousands of PCs sold each year.
Sorry.
PS: in any case, even with the serial number, which only allows you to file a complaint and identify it, it is very unlikely that it will be found, not impossible but very unlikely.
Regarding the lost work, I understand the distress but again, a lesson to be learned, never leave sensitive/value data in just one place.
Always have regular backups (ideally two) in different locations to prevent this kind of mishap or simply a hard drive failing.
For this purpose, the cloud is very convenient, you can easily automate the backup and access it from any machine.
Best regards
