Hello,
I am unable to set up the network on my PCs from this device.
The links provided in the manual are not working, my device is visible in the "Network" tab of my explorer but I can't map it to transfer files.
There is no menu when I right-click, and left-clicking takes me to the device’s IP in my browser.
I'm stuck!
Thank you for your help.
Best regards, JNH

    Hello,
    Thank you for your response.
For a mobile yes, but for a PC, the device needs to be mapped and some manipulations seem to be required, but none of the links provided in the manual work. Therefore, I can't do anything.

Have you checked the Western Digital support... https://support-fr.wd.com/app/products/product-detail/p/129?

Yes, I tried and I can't access it. "The support for this product has ended and is no longer available..."
I would have attached a screenshot but I can't on this forum.

No, the software is also necessary on PC for configuration/management according to the documentation at least.

From what I read, once the configuration is done, you can access the interface via a browser at the given URLs either on the hostname or on the machine's IP address (if using DHCP or static IP, one must already know that).

If all this works correctly and the management interface is accessible without issues, then the mappings can be defined.
Creating a mapping is very simple via Windows File Explorer IF the machine name is recognized, and thus the IP that goes with it.

It's probably simple, but...I don't know how to do it.
        Thanks anyway.

    Hello

If you do: Windows key + R, \\<NAS IP>, ok
    What happens?

      Hello,
      Thank you for your response.
Here's what happens: "Windows cannot access \\"
"Check the spelling of the name. Otherwise, there may be a problem with your network..."

      I may have misspoken:
for example, you need to enter \\192.168.0.100, with 192.168.0.100 being the IP address of the NAS on the network.

      Oops, but of course! :-)
"You cannot access this shared folder because your company's security policies block unauthenticated guest access..."

You need to connect to the NAS via the WEB interface.
Then, declare a user and shared folders.
This should be described in the manual.

The user is properly registered, the shared file is also there, and there is a link for the next steps that I cannot access...

You also need to be aware of the chapter on NAS user management in the manual because, without knowing this NAS, the management of NAS/Windows security is important.

      I don't think I'm there yet :-)
Normally, there is a method to follow and I would like to have the correct link to do it.
I will look into all of this, but the problem comes from the settings that I haven't been able to manage because... I don't have the method to do it.

Well, actually, I don't think so.

I have been using semi-professional NAS at home for quite some time (and servers in a professional setting), and the one you chose is already a bit of an "advanced" model.

The method is to follow the logical order.
        1) Install the device.
        2) Read the manual and follow the setup and recommendations.
        3) Then tackle the rest (once you're sure everything has been done in order), otherwise you might waste your time trying to skip steps.

There's a reason there's a chapter titled Getting Started with the Online Installation Software
        It's up to you.

I completely agree with everything you wrote, but I cannot access the configuration. The link does not work.

      1) I have provided you with the link to the online manual
      2) in this manual, it explains that you need to follow a setup by downloading a software.

I'm not going to read the manual for you either :-)

I don't have that famous link.
        Okay, I'll manage.
        Thank you.

This is the second NAS I am installing and I did not have any issues with the first one.
The manual is available at this link: https://documents.westerndigital.com/content/dam/doc-library/fr_fr/assets/public/wd/product/nas/my_cloud/ex2_ultra/user-manual-my-cloud-expert-series-ex2-ultra.pdf
User management is on page 20 and I am stuck on page 14! :-)
Thank you, but I don't want to bother you any further.

So... this link: "http://mycloud.com/setup" redirects me to this one: "https://os5.mycloud.com/setup", then I click on the version of my device which redirects me to this link: "http://wdmycloudex2/".
And there, "This site is unreachable".
        I can't progress...

I click on this link: https://files.mycloud.com/setup (you are missing the S) and I have the page indicated in the manual, then when you click on the "continue" button, it doesn't work for me because I don't have a NAS of this brand so it doesn't detect the device.
Make sure your NAS is properly connected and powered on.

        Does this help you?
