Hello, I just encountered the same problem and I found the solution.
You need to configure Kaspersky.
Open Kaspersky and go to settings.
Then click on application control and then on settings next to activity monitoring, there you look for CEC_MAIN.exe and add it to trusted sites (move to), do the same with traybar.
There you go.

Hello everyone, and I'm sorry to revisit a problem that seems resolved. However, I just discovered this discussion forum.
Indeed, I have been trying to solve the issue of the "CEC_MAIN.exe has stopped working" message for two months, to no avail.
While searching for a solution online, I came across your forum.
I would now like to receive via email (hamedblech@gmail.com) the recipe or experience of those who have found a solution to this problem.
Thank you for your understanding and for the time you take to read this message.

Hello everyone,
I've just had the same issue as you, but when launching the webcam software (my computer is a TOSHIBA Qosmio), the error message appears: CEC_MAIN.exe missing, please reinstall it. The problem is that I have never uninstalled it. I checked in the webcam program folder and I did not actually find CEC_MAIN.exe; could it be a hidden file?
Moreover, my webcam doesn't always work, for example on MSN.
My antivirus is Bitdefender and I can't find what you are talking about on Kaspersky. Additionally, no message appears at login under Vista.
Can anyone give me some information and help me solve this issue?
Thank you very much.
Lilice

The CEC_main issue is often a problem on TOSHIBA computers.
It's software that manages the webcam. You should try to uninstall the webcam driver through the device manager to reinstall it properly.
It might work. Otherwise, delete cec-main in safe mode in Windows/drivers and restart.
Good luck.

I have exactly the same problem as you and I'm afraid it might be a virus.
This happened over the last two days, and today the message no longer appears.
Everything seems to be working fine, but the thing that worries me is that even if I don’t perform any action on my laptop, the hard drive activity light often comes on as if a program is running something.
Thank you for all your help.
Marc

I have a big problem, I can't find PMCLoader.exe even though it's on my computer. I need to delete it because it's causing a conflict with my Pinnacle PCTV Sat Pro PCI 450i card. I downloaded the correct version for my PCTV card to work, but still the same error problem, the version of PMCLoader.exe is wrong, of course. I'm also on Vista. Thank you for replying as soon as possible because I'm struggling. Thank you.
I also have the same problem with my computer; indeed it says that ces main exe has stopped working. And before it was doing it for com surrogate but I managed to fix that one. What should I do for the other? Please reply if you have a solution because it's bothering me.
I have the same problem as you, cutie, since I solved the same problem with surrogate, so if someone could help us, that would be nice. Thanks in advance :)
Hello!
I have the same issue on Vista. Is it possible for someone who has found the solution to provide me with the steps to follow?
Thank you!! :)

Good morning
Actually, if you are using KASPERSKY as an antivirus, it's the one that is blocking the program
Go to kaspersky/protection/application control/settings and you'll find it checked in red, select it and click on move to (trusted)
It worked for me.

In any case, I'm not sure, but try to look for a button or a key in Avast that means
'application monitoring' and then allow the program.

I'm using Kaspersky and I've followed all the instructions you provided to change the options. I've gone to Kaspersky/protection, but where is the application control?
Thank you, amioss and kariboo, for the very clear explanations. Now I have no more problems since it has been bothering me for a long time.
Good evening
I also have the issue with the camera's functioning. I have Kaspersky as antivirus, I did what you mentioned earlier (only partially). I found cec main and moved it to low restrictions, but I couldn't find the traybar file, so as soon as I restart my PC, Kaspersky moves the cec main file back to suspicious restrictions.
So I'm going around in circles.
Does anyone have another solution?
Thank you for your cooperation.
