How to play UHD MKV video from a PC to a 4K TV?

Hello,

I've just started buying a TCL 65c815 television and I would like to watch 4K UHD MKV (~60 GB) videos stored on my computer.

The computer is a desktop and located in another room.

I initially thought about connecting an HDMI cable to link the two. The cable would need to run through drywall + framework + drywall = ~15m of cable.
I risk losing image quality, and it could be complicated to start movies and pause them once I'm settled on the couch.

Then I thought about an external hard drive (2.5 or 3.5), but I'm concerned that the file size might cause the image to stutter.

Lastly, I considered a box, but how can I connect the computer to this box?

My ultimate goal is to be able to watch my movie in the best possible conditions.
I do not want to stream since my connection is too weak.

    No reason, you just need to test to see if your TV can read the format of your movies.
    (and check the external hard drive size limit by looking at the manual)

    Test with what you have on hand, external hard drive or a USB stick for example.
