Video grabber key setup

Hello,
I want to transfer VHS tapes from my VCR to my PC.
I have the following equipment:
Silvertcrest video capture key
I have connected everything according to the instructions for this device and have inserted the software disc.
When I open my PowerDirector software, everything goes well until I try to capture; nothing happens.
Is there any operation to perform on the VCR? If so, which one? I have simply turned it on.
