Hello,

I bought a speaker furniture, the SoundStand10, from SoundVision, but I'm wondering: If I don't have an optical output on my Thomson television, can I still connect it? Thank you

Configuration: Macintosh / Safari 13.0.5

Thank you. Françoise

    Hello,
televisions have at least one audio output
    Analog headphone jack output 3.5mm
    Digital optical or coaxial.
What is the model of this Thomson television?
Who provides the image to the television..? the antenna, a TV decoder, a Canal box?

Unless I'm mistaken, the Soundstand 10 has optical - jack 3.5 and RCA (L-R) input

In the case of a coaxial output on the television, it is possible to find Coax IN/Optical Out converters

      Hello....
      optical to jack ????
It's actually the other way around and only if the television has a headphone output, which is not guaranteed.
The Soundstand furniture has an optical input...
Moreover, as far as sound quality is concerned, digital will certainly be better than an analog solution.

    The 40FU3253C television
    excerpt from https://www.lcd-compare.com/televiseur-THO40FU3253C-THOMSON-40FU3253C.htm
    offers audio output:
    • Stereo Headphone (x1)
    • Digital Coaxial (x1)

    The solution therefore involves
    • In analog, a Jack 3.5mm to Jack 3.5mm audio cable connected to the television's headphone output and to the jack input of the furniture.
    • In digital (as mentioned above, better sound quality), a Coaxial in / Optical out converter is needed.

    Example: https://www.amazon.fr/Convertisseur-Num%C3%A9rique-Adaptateur-Dolby-AC3-%C3%A9quipement/dp/B07BPKMDKT
with the associated Coaxial and optical cables

Note: when using the Coaxial output of the television, this output must be activated via the "Audio" or "Sound" menu of the television...

Thank you, but I still need your help

Is the audio cable the red one or the white one?
Is the jack input on the unit also the red input labeled AUX?

I tried the red cable on the headphone output of the TV and the red on AUX of the unit, and set the unit to AUX, but the sound cuts out and I only get a humming noise

    Thank you

      A Jack/jack 3.5mm audio cable looks like this ======>
it connects to the headphone jack of the television on one side and to a similar jack on the television...
I can't find the manual for this Soundstand (if you could post a picture of the connectors that would be great)

You can also use a jack/RCA cable
it connects to the headphone output of the television and to the RCA AUX inputs of the unit.

    Excerpt from https://www.avcesar.com/actu/id-16710/soundvision-soundstand-10-meuble-home-cinema.html
The SoundStand 10 is Bluetooth compatible and can thus stream music from a suitable device. The connectivity includes an optical input, a 3.5 mm mini-Jack, a 3.5 mm line input, and a USB Host port capable of charging a smartphone or tablet.

Make sure that your furniture has these inputs.
one optical, two jack inputs (one labeled "Line"), and one USB

These images from the manual do not show the jack socket which would not be the "Line" input.

So the analog solution is the 3.5mm Jack/RCA cable from message #7.
