Issue with the ethernet cable between decoder - livebox

Hello,
After my Orange TV decoder broke down last Monday, the technician I contacted at 3900 sent me a new device.
I was even surprised to receive it so quickly (24 hours, thank you, Orange)
However, there is a major "hiccup"!
A friend, an expert in IT and audiovisual equipment, had installed the LiveBox and decoder for me. I want to specify that it is a LiveBox Play and that all this stuff is linked to my Orange landline (landline phone) and that no Ethernet cable connected the decoder to the Box.
Before the "death" of the old decoder, everything was working very well and I still receive the TV channels perfectly on my PC. But upon unpacking the equipment, I noticed the presence of a rather short Ethernet cable that was supposed to be connected to my LiveBox... which is not in the same room.
I carefully followed the instructions in the installation booklet but IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO CONNECT THE ETHERNET CABLE (too short!!!)
Everything was fine until an error message appeared asking to connect the decoder to the LB.
Previously, the decoder was only connected to its power supply plugged into an electrical socket. Behind the device, there was indeed only the HDMI cable connecting the TV to the decoder, the power cable, and THAT'S IT!
In any case, it would have been impossible to connect the Box and the decoder since they are 5 meters apart and I have never had an Ethernet cable of that length!!!
By what magic operation did this friend manage to get the TV started? Could his perfect installation have anything to do with the fact that the internet works with the landline?
Thank you for helping a poor castaway of audiovisual equipment
If I had to connect the decoder to the Box, what Ethernet cable should I buy?
Thank you in advance Configuration: Windows / Edge 18.17763

Hello

Your friend connected the Orange decoder to the Livebox Play via Wi-Fi, which spared you from using an unsightly Ethernet cable.

The procedure is here:

Good evening to you and thank you for your reply.
I consulted the instruction manual you indicated and I had correctly followed the process. Is it possible that the decoder received yesterday is not identical to the previous one, which did not require any additional box or Ethernet cable for me to receive TV channels optimally?
I don’t understand why, being afflicted with a rare lack of knowledge in audiovisual matters, my friend was able to so easily make this television work without needing to connect the decoder to the LiveBox Play, which, I would like to point out in my message to Kaumune, is already five years old?
Is it conceivable that this device no longer functions the same way as the old one, which would explain the problem?
Should I now connect the two devices with an Ethernet cable and WHICH CABLE SHOULD I CHOOSE??? It has to be white (because of the walls) and measure between 5 and 10 meters.
Thank you again for your response.
