I’d like to know whether we are responsible for what happens in our mailbox in France?

    probably, yes.
    I’d say it depends on the content, where it comes from, and especially how it got there.
    But it could be considered as receiving stolen goods if you don’t erase it, because it isn’t just a mailbox, it’s also a closet where you can store.
    Personally,
    I have 5 or 6 email accounts, 3 of which are fake, and I try to clean up regularly.
