Galaxy Tab S5e displayed only on half of the screen

Good evening, so first of all I'm sorry for posting the topic here but I wasn't sure which forum to turn to.

My problem is as follows: the screen of my Tab S5e displays white (sometimes it shows normally but in a strange way) on the left half of my screen while the right part displays everything correctly. I went to Darty after the Christmas week because it was still under warranty, but due to a micro-crack, they can't replace it for me. However, the technician told me that it was due to a software issue that crashes, which happens with a bad connection or downloads. I want to mention that the problem disappeared after my visit to Darty; he told me to reset it, which I did, and it was like new. But today, a week later, it happened again, I was watching a Netflix series when the screen suddenly started glitching again, still the left half of the screen (and really the half, quite symmetrically). So I tried resetting it from the settings tool, then in recovery mode, but nothing works; recovery mode is unreadable because the part of the screen where it is displayed doesn't work. I went online to look for an image of the recovery mode to navigate blindly, I saw that by pressing the volume down button 4 or 5 times (I don't remember but I wasn't mistaken) we arrive at wipe factory reset, but when I then click on the power button to select, nothing happens.
I want to emphasize that the display bug is visible when the tablet is turned on when it shows "Samsung S5e," I took screenshots to see if the white parts were visible in the image but no, the problem does not come from the LCD. Please help me, I don't know what to do; it was working fine, no shocks, even the technician told me it was just a software issue. At this price, it would break my heart; it's only 6 months old.

Hi,
There could be several reasons. But unlike the technician (or maybe more precisely the salesperson) you mentioned, I don't think it could be a software issue.

First of all, given what you're describing, it would be very surprising since the symptoms point to a hardware problem. And secondly, because if the issue appears right from the boot of the tablet, it can't be some software under Android causing the mess.

Add to this lie the refusal to apply the warranty because of a "micro crack," and you quickly understand who you're dealing with.
Well, it might be understandable since this problem could occur after a significant drop. But if they're talking to you about a software problem, that doesn't even hold water...

The problem could come from several things. Either, the LCD panel itself has a malfunction (or it was mishandled during transport, as it may have been pressed too hard...).

It could also come from the screen ribbon cable, which may have a bad connection, perhaps poorly soldered... If that's the case, then the problem might be repairable.

If you want to access the full screen, try connecting the tablet to an external display via a USB-C > HDMI cable.

Thank you for your response. So yes, indeed the screen displayed white on half of it at startup, barely after I touched the power button.

As for the crack, the guy from Darty told me they couldn't take it back because they didn't know how the crack occurred, the screen might be damaged, so if they have to change the LCD, they risk breaking something else. Well, that's quite the nonsense. And if it was the LCD that was damaged, why is my screen not displaying anything abnormal contrary to what I see on my screen? And finally, why did my tablet work normally for a week before I had the same problem again?

Regarding the cable, how do I repair it? Because I looked up the prices for LCD screens, etc. on the internet and I'm speechless; I might as well buy a new tablet for that price.

As for your last point, charging the tablet is not bad, but the purpose of my tablet was to watch movies, series, and play games during my trips. Carrying an extra screen is becoming cumbersome.

"The screen may be damaged, so if they have to change the LCD, they might break something else"
If it's professionals taking care of it with the right equipment, they won't break anything.

As for the ribbon cable, how to repair it?
Unfortunately, it's not something anyone can handle. You need knowledge in electronics and the equipment to solder, which isn't accessible to everyone. And you might have difficulty finding an independent repairer, as these repairs are potentially risky when you're not well-equipped.

And be careful, the LCD panel could very well be broken and display white. That's entirely possible.

I don't really see a way out of your problem; even though I can more or less diagnose it, I can't tell you anything more.

Insist on making use of the warranty; sometimes you have to push hard, scream a good deal, and it might work.

Is there no solution to reset the hardware of my tablet please? I don’t know what that is. And the warranty, I will try again at another Darty, it doesn’t cost me anything.

The most frustrating thing is that I had the problem, the reset fixed everything and it worked like new for 1 week and then it happened again, the problem is untraceable.

reset the hardware of my tablet
Hardware refers to physical components, that is to say "real" ones, as opposed to software elements.

So no, at your level, there's nothing you can do, at least not much.
