Phone charging but staying at 0%

Hello,
I have a Galaxy S8 and I haven't had my original charger for a while. The cables I had to charge it worked very well until now. However, today my phone had trouble charging with them; I had to plug in the charger several times before my phone finally started charging. But at one point, it stopped working completely, and my phone reached 0% and shut down. I then tried other cables, and the phone indicated it was charging, but no matter how long I waited, the battery stayed at 0%. I can’t understand what the problem is. Is it a charger issue? Or is it a problem with the battery itself?
