Hello everyone,

I'm reaching out for your help because I would like to know, given that my laptop doesn't have a drive, if it is possible to install my old CD games on this computer or if I need to buy an external drive?

Thank you in advance and have a good day.

Best regards

Hello

In any case, you will need at least one drive to either install or virtualize the CDs, provided there is no copy protection.
So either a USB drive or an old PC that has one, which needs to be put in the same workgroup (on the same network box), and from there, share the CD drive.
This way, you can use the CD drive from another machine.

However, be careful, if the games are "very old," they may not be compatible with the new PC and its graphics hardware and/or Windows 10 (if it is Windows 10). But this needs to be tested for each game.

Best regards

Okay, fine.

I have a second laptop but this time with a drive, and I was wondering if I install the CD game on an external hard drive and transfer the files to my other laptop which doesn't have a drive, would it work?

The answer is no.
You must install it on the disk where it will run.
Again, if you have a laptop with a CD, just share it and install it on the PC without a disk by accessing the shared drive.
However, if the game does a CD check before starting (anti-piracy system), either it won't work, or the shared CD will always need to be available to play.

Hi

on abandonware websites
they recommend using daemon tools
to virtualize the CD as madmyke said
a simple ISO of the CD is enough

as long as there are no protections on the CD

ciao ciao
