Unable to set up TNT on HKC 32C9A TV - HELP !!!
Hello,
I just purchased an HKC 32C9A TV with built-in digital reception but I can't get any French channels. I have plenty of German, Austrian, Swiss, Russian, and other channels, but French ones, not a thing, nada, nothing!!!
I have a satellite dish and I've properly connected my TV to the dish, and the scan works fine but it does not pick up any French channels. What is going wrong?
Do I still need to buy a receiver or decoder (I’m not sure what it's called) to receive the digital channels?
Thanks in advance to everyone who can help me.
Have a great day

Hello and welcome to this forum,
"with built-in TNT"
You must mean built-in satellite tuner...
Given the channels received, you must be oriented towards Astra 19.2° East and in that case, you can only receive clear channels, however, due to broadcasting rights, French TNT channels are encrypted.
So you must be receiving in French I24 News Français, RT France HD, Arte HD, France 24 (in French), CCTV F (Chinese) TV5 Monde Europe and that's it...
Do you confirm?
Here’s the list of clear channels on Astra:

And I add, to receive TNT channels via satellite:
Two solutions:
TNT SAT on Astra 19.2° East
Fransat on Eutelsat 5° West
In both cases, a decoder labeled "TNT SAT" or "Fransat" is necessary, available everywhere from €100
Note that Fransat is of better quality and more long-lasting than TNT SAT, which is not validated by the CSA.
For security/piracy reasons, the card must be renewed every four years with both operators at a cost of €15
In addition to the 27 TNT channels, you will receive Fr 3 national in HD + the choice among 25 regional broadcasts, TV5 Monde, Kto and regional channels + 19 radio channels and the option to subscribe to pay channels, Bein Sport, Télé Mélodie, Bis TV package. see here:
https://www.fransat.fr/les-chaines-gratuites/
The decoders and modules here, for example:

Another advantage, if the TV is equipped with a satellite tuner and a CI+ Fransat labeled PCMCIA interface, one can do without a decoder => no more cables, better quality, and a single remote control. Canal, however, refuses this interesting solution by not marketing a module + card, they require an externally labeled Canal terminal.
List of Fransat labeled TVs here, yours may be included:

Thank you, Andy, for such a quick response!!! You confirm what I suspected, I need a decoder. Thanks for the links. In the meantime, I'm perfecting my German and my Russian.
Have a nice end of the day!!
