Create a filter button

Question

Hello everyone,  I just saw some buttons in the Excel photo below and I don't know how to create this type of button. They are really useful, and I would love to know how to make more for other Excel files.  A few details: - Sorry for the big black squares, I had to hide some confidential data. - I'm looking to reproduce the buttons I highlighted in orange with the "1" next to them. - To be clear, when you click on one of the buttons (highlighted in orange and labeled with a 1), it directly changes the filter of the table below (labeled 2) as well as the graphs linked to that table.  I'm attaching the screenshot below; unfortunately, I can't share the Excel file... Let me know if that's enough for you, and don't hesitate to ask questions.    Thanks in advance,  G.

Hello.  I feel like you just have a Pivot Table and the associated GCD! The filtering buttons are part of the tools available in a Pivot Table. So you just need to learn how to handle Pivot Tables ...  -- Retirement is great! Especially in the Caribbean... Raymond (INSA, AFPA)

Hello Raymond, It's perfect! Everything is working perfectly and indeed I looked at the segments! I have exactly what I need.  However, I am faced with a new problem regarding the Pivot Table. (I am very new to this tool)  In the first screenshot, you will find my source database. In the second screenshot, you will find my Pivot Table (or at least what I tried to do)  Here is what I am trying to do: I would like to have a source tab (which I already have) and a new tab that shows the names of the companies with the comments that have been entered for each of them on the same line for the same company.  Unfortunately, in the filters they only offer calculations (sum, count, product...) but that does not allow me to show the text of my comment.  You may ask me why I need to create a Pivot Table: My source tab has companies of different types and I need to create a tab for each type of company (automotive, aerospace...). This tab would show the list of companies for a certain type, the comments, and the different other variables that could then be filtered within that type of company.  I chose the Pivot Table because it is linked to a source page and because it prevents people from changing the values inside the Pivot Table itself. Indeed, my predecessor had made a source file, then copied and pasted the companies from the same sector into a tab, but people were changing the comments once on the source tab and once on the company type tab. So neither of the two tabs was up to date.  If the Pivot Table is a bad solution, I am open to any other options.

Hello.  It seems that your discussion hasn't progressed much...  For my part, I think we shouldn’t try to tackle this issue with a pivot table, and displaying all comments from a company on the same line is not practical at all. The simplest way is to make filters and sorts, to gather the rows corresponding to a company. The fact that users modify comments is a matter of discipline: they should be prohibited from manipulating them! You should especially make sure that only you can access a source file! That seems essential to me... You can also lock the cells in that column and protect the sheet.  -- Retirement is great! Especially in the Caribbean... Raymond (INSA, AFPA)
