Hello,

I created a 30-slide presentation using PowerPoint 2007.
However, my slides do not advance automatically even though I set a few seconds for each slide.
I have selected automatic progression (not manual), and it still doesn't work.

Can someone help me?

Thank you in advance

    Hello,

We don't know how you went about it... "while I took a few seconds for each slide. "
so it's difficult to respond to you.
Also, take the opportunity to provide your version of PowerPoint.

    Hello Marina,
The version is Office PowerPoint 2007.
I have therefore made 30 slides. Each one has a duration from 10 seconds (for the first) up to a maximum of 1 minute. I can check this on the slide sorter (view). I added music.
On slideshow > slideshow settings, I selected: "viewed on a kiosk (since I'm going to put it on a television)", "loop continuously until ESC", slides: "all", slide transition: "use current timings", performance: "use hardware graphics acceleration", slideshow resolution: "use current resolution" and OK.
In animation: "automatically advance to the next slide" and the time displayed is that of the first slide.
So I do not understand what is happening.
    Thank you for your help.
    Have a nice day.

      Good evening,

Apparently, you're doing everything right, except that you say you've added music, but we don't know more about it. And apparently, the only thing that might be blocking is the music.

Select the music icon, then under the Sound Tools/Options tab, in the Enable Sound section (within the Sound Options group), I suppose you have "Automatically" (that's the default). Instead, choose "Play across slides".

If you don't do this, the slideshow will wait for your music to finish before moving on to the next slide.

    Hello Marina,

Thank you for your wise advice.
Actually, I had put "run on all slides." But it doesn't change the problem.
After numerous modifications: changing the music + changing the slide timings (uniform 40 seconds), etc.... no results.
By chance, I clicked on the slideshow icon > "from the current slide" (while being on the first slide) instead of "from the beginning"... and there it works! Hooray!
So thank you for all your explanations which helped me find the solution. I couldn't do it alone.
All I have left is to find a (free) converter to convert this PPT to MP4 so I can watch it on the TV with a USB stick.
If you want, I can send you this PPT that talks (for the general public) about hypnosis. My wife is a hypnotherapist and will put the TV in the waiting room. Let me know how I can send it to you.
Once again, thank you a thousand times.
    Have a good day.

      Hello,

It seems to me that there is still a problem with your presentation if it only works with the "from current slide" option...

Yes, I would like you to send me the presentation, I'm interested. You can put it here:
https://www.cjoint.com/ and send me the link via private message.

    Hello Marina,

A small observation: your reply only appears in my email and not on the forum. But that doesn't bother me. The important thing is that I have your answers.

To respond to your message from yesterday at 8:15 PM: I had originally set different slide timings (which I prefer - reading the texts mentally and adding 5 seconds), but due to the difficulties encountered, I set the same timing (40s) for all the slides. Now I can start over.

Now you’re telling me there’s a problem with the MP3s. But this slideshow will only be viewed on a television by converting the PPT to MP4. For now, I haven't found a converter from MP3 to MP4 (feel free to recommend one). Also, will the slideshow be visible again from the first slide on the TV when the last slide ends? Do I need to do any manipulation in PowerPoint?

    Good evening,

    Sorry for my late reply...

Your slideshow does have automatic scrolling. Here are a few comments:

    - 40 seconds is pretty good for reading, but it’s not justified on the first slide. That might be why you think it doesn’t scroll automatically. You need to be a bit patient.
    - Regarding the music, you’ve placed it twice on the first slide. You need to remove one of them. Also, it’s probably an MP3 and by default an MP3 cannot be embedded in a 2007 presentation. So, if the slideshow is intended to be shared on another device, you’ll also need to download the music.
See here for embedding an MP3 with 2007:

    Hello Marina,

Thank you again for your help.
I have adjusted the duration of each slide based on the reading time of the texts + 5 seconds. I have reinstated the background music with MP3 Addln.
But how can you see that I have reused the same music multiple times? However, when I play the slideshow, I only hear one piece of music?
Moreover, I couldn't find a free converter from PPT to MP4 today to put it on a USB stick for the television. I tried several without success. Do you have any ideas?

Thanks in advance and have a great day

      Hello,

look at your first slide: we see the music icon in the middle of the slide, and there's another one in the bottom left corner. By the way, just for your information, it would be better not to display this icon during the slideshow. To do this, just check "Hide during presentation" under the Sound Tools/options tab.

Otherwise, no, I don't know of any free converter. 2007 is an old version. Since version 2010, you can natively save in video format.

    Hello Marina,
I indeed checked the mention "Hide during presentation" on the latest version.
I searched again for a free converter, but I couldn't find one. So, I bought "AVS4YOU". I hope it will be effective in use.

Thank you again for your effective help.
    Bye bye
