Infected web browsers on Android

Hello,

Earlier, when I opened Chrome on my phone, the browser redirected me to the webpage "wap.coriolis.com". The page just kept loading and wouldn’t open anything.

So I changed the homepage settings to have google.com instead. This seemed to make the problem disappear on the surface.
I then took a look at the Samsung Internet app to see if it had the same issue, and indeed "wap.coriolis.com" was set as the homepage. However, I can’t change the default homepage on Samsung Internet.

I then downloaded Firefox to see if there was a difference, and there was no problem—the browser goes to the normal homepage.

I’m wondering what exactly "wap.coriolis.com" is—is it adware, a virus, etc.? I haven’t really found any solid information on Google other than a few forum threads.

And how can I get rid of it? I’ve already run a scan with the free version of Kaspersky and nothing was found...

I’m available to provide more information if needed.

Thank you.

(Phone: Samsung A52016)

Tested with Bitdefender antivirus (you can get it for free from this link: https://www.dealabs.com/bons-plans/licence-antivirus-bitdefender-total-security-2019-gratuite-pendant-6-mois-5-appareils-dematerialise-1421689)
If the deep scan with Bitdefender shows nothing, I think you will need to do a factory reset (after creating a restore point).

      Thank you for your response

I ran a scan with Malwarebytes and then uninstalled it to run a scan with BitDefender, but neither found anything.
By clearing the cache and data of the browsers, the default page returned to normal.
I also deleted a new APN named "coriolis" that had appeared.

Should I do a factory reset to be sure that my phone is no longer infected?

No, if Malwarebytes and Bitdefender found nothing, it shouldn't be a virus, just a redirection caused by a site you visited. However, if it reappears and clearing the cache and history doesn't change anything, I think you should do a reset.
      Hoping I helped you :-)
