Hello everyone, I use WhatsApp a lot to send messages and make calls, I have an SFR plan. Unlimited SMS MMS with 30 GB of data. My question is that I have a lot of SMS counted on my bill; I thought that WhatsApp worked over the internet for messaging and calls, so I shouldn't have so many SMS recorded on my bill. Can anyone confirm my statements or am I wrong? THANK YOU FOR YOUR RESPONSES.

Hi,

WhatsApp operates exclusively over IP and thus through the Internet.

If you also have SMS, it means you're sending SMS separately or through an application that uses them when there's no network (Messenger, iMessage, etc.).

Thank you very much. If there's no network with Messenger for example, are SMS counted towards the plan and therefore on the bill, is that right? Sorry for being a novice...

If Messenger is set up to handle SMS (texts) yes.
