Unable to access the deviantart site

Hello,

I have been trying to access the following site for several months: https://www.deviantart.com/

Unfortunately, the loading is quite slow and I end up on an error page every time:

Secure connection failed

The connection with the server was reset while loading the page.

The page you are trying to view cannot be displayed because the authenticity of the received data cannot be verified.
Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.

So, I checked my hosts file, tried changing my DNS, looked for software like AVAST and the like, checked my firewalls, I booted into safe mode on Firefox... scoured various sites with requests similar to mine, in short, I’ve tried a lot of things and I still end up on that famous page.

I am using Firefox on Win10, access to the site is impossible even via Internet Explorer.
I don't have another PC to check if this is just my PC or if it’s my internet navigation configuration.

I also have the same problem with the Wikipedia site with the same error message mentioned above.

Is there anyone who could help me? It’s quite frustrating and today I'm writing to you because this can’t go on any longer!

Thank you in advance!

    Hello,

I access it in three seconds... on VDSL so the site isn't to blame.

Start by clearing the FireFox cache ===>Help===>Troubleshooting===>restart.

You don’t need AVAST on Windows 10, it just slows you down... Bitdefender does the job.

It might also be that your connection is slow... we don’t know that. Check Speedtest.net and attach the test link here.

      Hello,

Indeed, I'm not questioning a technical problem on the site.
(since I specified that I have the same issue with the Wikipedia site)

The cache is cleared, I didn't wait for anyone to tell me. I have no Firefox add-ons just in case.
(I even ran CCleaner to make sure everything was erased). And yes, I have already tried in safe mode.

I mentioned Avast because Avast or certain other programs can block access to certain sites, so I specified that I wasn't using this kind of software. (the firewall configurations also block some sites, that’s verified)

As for my connection, I have fiber, so there’s no problem.

I would like to be able to do like you, though.
      Thanks anyway.
      Next :)

OK, I didn't understand that you did all that... sorry.

Maybe you've done things or behaved in an abusive way...?? that could have led to your ban..?
You could install Opera https://www.opera.com/fr to see if you have the same problem... Also try with your phone..?? You can also try booting from a live CD in Linux... and if you are refused in that case as well, the problem is not with your PC..??
http://puppylinux.org/main/Download%20Latest%20Release.htm it can be burned onto a simple CD and it works.

Otherwise, it could be happening in your router or your provider who might have blocked those sites... What is your ISP..?
      What DNS are you using..??

      No worries ^^

No problem with the deviantart site regarding abusive behavior/use, I assure you ^^
As for Opera, it seems totally useless since Firefox, IE, Chrome, etc. don’t work either.

      But ta-da!
I can access the site perfectly via my phone and get this, not using my mobile data but connected via my livebox (Orange). By the way, the site has changed a lot in the last 10 years, haha.

So we have a problem with my PC and I can’t see what it is. Probably a misconfiguration somewhere. I should mention that since I got my computer, I have never been able to access the deviant art site and have always had the same problem with Wikipedia... it's an Alienware 15 R3 from Dell...

As for the DNS, they are the default ones, which I believe are Google's 8888 and 8844.

If we keep looking a bit, I think we’ll find something.

Just in case, here’s the content of my hosts file, but I don’t think that’s where the issue is:

      # Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
      #
      # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
      #
      # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
      # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
      # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
      # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
      # space.
      #
      # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
      # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
      #
      # For example:
      #
      # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
      # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

      # localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
      # 127.0.0.1 localhost

      try these 2 DNS 77.88.8.2 | 77.88.8.88 to see..

Where do you change them..?? on the PC or in your BOX..??

Do you use the Orange connection utility..??

So I tried your DNS in two different ways.
Either through the Windows settings by modifying the network properties
or through the control panel by changing the properties of the network adapter
      It seems a bit similar...

As for the management page of my livebox, no, I don't have access to the DNS, the fields are grayed out.
And no, I don't have the app.

I was thinking of opting for those from Cloudflare ^^

-- You certainly have a more powerful Ethernet connection... and you are using WiFi... which does not help to clear the ground in case of conflict like here.. For me, we switch back to WiFi when everything becomes clear again.

-- Indeed, we can no longer modify the DNS servers in the Orange Box, but we can on the PC.

-- You have two Virtual Direct WiFi network connections, disconnected with different MAC addresses..

-- The only real connection is "Killer Wireless-n/a/ac 1435 Wireless Network Adapter" with yet another different MAC address... but this one should be based on IP 192.168.1.19

-- The fact that the liveBox works with the smartphone proves nothing for the liveBox, at best, it demonstrates that the smartphone is configured correctly... it may not be on the same frequency, e.g., at 5GHz..?? or the browser may not be the same.

Here is a possible action on the PC:

1 Display the Network and Sharing Center

    2 Modify the adapter settings

3 Click on the active network adapter (1st mini window display)

4 Click on properties (2nd mini window display)

5 Click on TCP/IP v4 and click on Properties (3rd mini window display)

6 Modify it as per the image in the link below --- uncheck what is unchecked---

    7 click OK

That said, I don't see any "big wolves" in your connection settings..

-- If the phenomenon persists, we will need to look for something else that is preventing you from accessing this site... such as in Antivirus or firewall settings, the anti-popup tools you may have in Firefox (Ublock or Ghostery or ADblock)... Also check for Flashplayer restrictions or whether it's out of date... also Java..??

-- That's it for now, but I will investigate further as it seems that there is indeed a problem with keys and certificates with these sites, something is not responding well on pings or traceroute..

In my opinion, you have been blocked by someone from accessing this site... either for reasons you should know about, or because you have the same username as someone else...
Go read this and you will understand that it's possible https://www.deviantartsupport.com/en/article/how-do-i-block-users-from-contacting-me-on-deviantart

Make a manual command line...(Press Windows + R) then type
      cmd

      then in the black window
      ping 52.84.150.31
you should get four lines of response and no packet loss... that's the IP of the site deviantart.com

      next another command line
       tracert 52.84.150.31
you should have about 25 lines in response which are the transit points to reach this site

These manipulations are not remedies; but only means of verification... from your PC

If that doesn't work, I think you should post your story in the Virus/security forum for a specialist to take care of you and analyze your PC... on this subject..

Hi, thank you very much for your valuable help, I confirm to you, I don’t think I was blocked, I had an account on this site about ten years ago, nothing to reproach myself.

As for the manipulations you indicated, I followed the command line one.
No problem pinging 52.84.150.31, but for tracert 52.84.150.31,
the route gets lost at line 13, timeout exceeded and the same for everything else. There’s something that’s stuck at that point after a certain Amazon line or something.

If this can help you, then it helps me too ^^

Finally, regarding the DNS changes, I had already done that operation, but I will try again tomorrow if that "tracert" story doesn’t help you.

PS: of course I can't access the link: https://www.deviantartsupport.com/en/article/how-do-i-block-users-from-contacting-me-on-deviantart :p

      Pioufff, I had a little absent-minded moment.
Well, well, well, what a hassle this is to access a website.
I'm giving up! No DeviantArt or Wikipedia at home, and too bad.
It's just crazy that a computer or a setting can block access to one or more sites.

Anyway, it's not vital for me, but I thank you for your commitment throughout my request.

I hereby abdicate, you can close this request.
Thanks again for the many pieces of information.

      Situation not resolved
(giving up, too many things to do to click on a site)

It is not certain that the computer settings are the issue...

That's why I'm telling you to go elsewhere, to someone else's place, and connect to the site with your username and password... from their computer... it should work... Normally.

However, if you are banned from this site, you will also be banned from another location on another PC...

Hello, I'm back at it again, I'm still quite bothered and this issue doesn't only concern the site deviantart.com.

Indeed, here’s a small list of websites I cannot access (so it's not JUST deviantart and also includes other sites like wikipédia mentioned above):

    https://www.deviantart.com/
    https://www.wikipedia.org/
    https://unity3d.com/fr

-The list is not exhaustive but these are the main sites I want to access, though I have encountered others. I need to connect to them via my computer.

I remind you that I can access ALL the sites listed above via my phone on wifi on the same livebox. The problem, therefore, comes from the computer.

    Help!
