Scaling an image block in Xpress

Hello,

Here is my problem! I had to acquire Xpress last year because Indesign is not compatible with High Sierra on my Mac (which is quite unfortunate).
However, it was quite simple to manipulate images within blocks in Indesign, but with Xpress, I haven't found a way to do so without it affecting the entire image. You can't stretch one edge of an image without modifying the whole image. In the Style menu, there is a Stretch image in the block button, but it remains grayed out, so I can't use it. Since I'm not an expert in Xpress, can someone help me as it's quite frustrating not to be able to do what I want with my images?

    look at what the keyboard shortcut for "edit or crop an image" is in the online help...
    There is one, but it may not necessarily be the one that works on PC...

      No, I can't find it, and Quark's help is terrible, we can say that. I don't understand why in Style "Stretch Image" is grayed out. I think there's a problem.

      Indeed, the "Stretch Image" function is grayed out if the aspect ratio between horizontal and vertical is locked...
      By unlocking this function in the "Edit" menu (the one you can't find), the "Stretch Image" option becomes available in the style menu...

      It's the function above (Stretch the image in the block) that is grayed out like in your image..

      On PC, it's the same thing.. unless we disable the uniform scaling...
      But on MAC, I don't know where that is located in the menus..

      Sorry, the answer arrived in the meantime..!

      Yes, actually, I reread it and you had already mentioned the homothety track yesterday at 4:41 PM. I just pointed out where it could be done on MAC

      Now, if each image is tampered with like that in the blocks, hello to the work (and time) of the RIP behind.

    The logic of Xpress is a bit different from that of InDesign...

    For your image, right-click on the image frame and in the list, select "modify" and in the "image" tab deselect the ratio between the horizontal and vertical scale...

    I believe there is a keyboard shortcut for that, but there are so many.....!

      Thank you very much for your response. However, I cannot perform the action you mentioned. Even if I click on the image frame, I am unable to "edit" anything except "Edit Original," and I do not have access to "image."

      What are the options available with the "right" click?
      Have you placed your image in an image frame?

      On MAC, the menus are often different from the PC...

      Look at what you have in "content" ....

      Ah .. try "apple+M"... (on PC it's Ctrl+M)

    Ah ah, the Apple is no longer on Mac. But by doing this, it centers the image but doesn't give me the ability to distort it as I wish.

    Hello,
    I don't want to scale the image to the block; I want to be able to stretch it as I wish. And I see that with you too, this function is grayed out. There must be a bug in the software.
    I think I'm going to contact Quark!

      Yes, that's it. To be able to deform it as I want, but it's not possible for now.

      You need to disconnect the width/height link in the control panel at the bottom


      Then you can pull one side and deform it (the "stretch" option is no longer grayed out)

    Oh wow, thank you very much. Well honestly, Quark is really impressive, you have to know that you need to go to this panel to finally have access to the image stretching.

    I truly appreciate it, I would have never found it otherwise.
