Search display has changed. Solved

Question

Hello, my question may seem silly, but since yesterday, the display of search results has changed. Hi, I'm in the same situation as you; since yesterday, my Google searches have been very slow and not great. I tried reinstalling Google (by removing the extensions), but it didn't work; I still have the same issue (the same screen as you for searches). I have no idea where this could be coming from, but we can't be the only ones. On my PC, I'm using Windows 10 Pro N, and I don't have any applications running besides Avast....

Hello,  At first glance, the display seems reduced.  Check the zoom level. Open Google Chrome. Go to the three dots at the top right. See if the zoom is set to 100%.  Then, if you have Google as your homepage, check that the address is  https://www.google.fr/  Also check that Google is the default search engine. Go to the three dots at the top right. Settings. The line → Default search engine.    Here’s what it looks like for me.    Have you had a Google Chrome update?  Have you done a Windows Update? Windows Update also installs drivers, including the graphics card driver, which is just a generic driver. This manages the display and video among other things. Check the manufacturer's website or Drivercloud to see if a driver is offered.   Otherwise, reset Google Chrome. Follow this guide.  Or else - Use ResetBrowser.  - Use the Chrome cleanup tool here.  -Also check Speedyfox.   -- pistouri

Thank you for your responses.  I went into Google settings and in the search engines but unfortunately, I couldn't find the same address for Google:  https://www.noelshack.com/2018-01-5-1515164336-capture.png  Also, the zoom is indeed at 100%.  I just used Speedyfox and reset the browser but it's still the same thing.  I also took a look in the registry but when I got to Windows, I couldn't find Windows Update.  https://www.noelshack.com/2018-01-5-1515165557-capture2.png  In the settings --> system it was already at 100%.  So, if you have any other solutions, I'm all ears :)

I have an HP PC, I5, Windows 10. The components are done, still the same display with Chromium and Chrome Canary. I have a 64-bit system. Hello,  I see no difference in display for Internet Explorer and Firefox, but for Edge, I couldn't change the search engine because the options to add and remove are grayed out.   I only have Windows Defender as antivirus, but I used to have Malwarebytes, which I no longer have, probably because I had to remove it for some reason or another.

Hello,  For Malwarebytes, it's good that you uninstalled it, because if you leave it, background processes may run and it can block sites for example. Anyway, it needs to be uninstalled after an infection; some keep it thinking it's an antivirus.  Maybe Malwarebytes cleaned too much? Do you have a memory of the text report? It might still be in the root of the C drive like Adwcleaner does.  This intrigues me:  I couldn't change the search engine because the boxes to add and remove are grayed out.  Please specify in which browsers it is grayed out.  Post a screenshot so I can see the grayed out box.  Try to reset the browsers with ResetBrowser   -- pistouri

For the graphics driver, if you are unable to uninstall it (just in case) with Revo or Device Manager or Control Panel (the latter is absent with version 1709, just type control in Cortana). Anyway, you could also check your internet connection, the goal is to see if the proxy is active or not  Go to Settings → Network & Internet The line → Proxy Only should be enabled → Automatically detect settings. Another idea:  I don’t have a diploma to disinfect a PC unless someone is willing to do an assessment of your PC or get the message across I’m thinking of Malekal or a Contributor / Moderator → I can’t register for a training session, it’s always full!! → FRST  So I suggest some utilities in the meantime  You’ve already done Malwarebytes and AdwCleaner  Try this RogueKiller  Run SFT here or the latest version if CCM’s server accepts it here  Restart the PC  Post the RogueKiller report You can delete the SFT report, it’s unnecessary to read, it contains temporary files unless you want to post it. Hello,  I noticed that when I turn on my computer and open Google, I have no connection and therefore I can't search for anything. But as soon as I leave the page, it goes back to being disabled. Hello Skyse,  If you run MalwareBytes Continue the scan .....Oh dear......already threats....continue to the end. Delete the quarantine Keep and post the report Restart and check if you have any lines in → Settings → Proxy

Purge the system restore  In the Cortana search field or right-click on the Start button then Search  Type → disk cleanup the first 2 letters are enough to type Check all boxes Click on → Clean up system files Then → OK Restart the PC     A quick SFT Restart the PC  Check the display in your browsers Report back with the response in your next message  A+

Check that you are on a private network   Click on the network icon next to the time  Then click on → Network   Click on the line → Status  Then click on the line → Change connection properties  Select if not already done → Private      If everything is OK, create a restore point   In the Cortana search box or right-click on the Start button then Search   Type → restore  The first 5 letters are enough to type  Click on → Create a restore point  The disk C  must be enabled  If not, click on → Configure...
