Automatic disconnection at the end of the call

Hello,

I would like to know if there are models of cordless or corded telephones that automatically hang up after a call.
Let me explain, someone in my family places the handset of their cordless phone back on the base at the end of the call but forgets to hang up, which causes the line to be continuously busy. This person is experiencing early-stage Alzheimer's, and no matter how often we remind them to press the "red button," they regularly forget. Do you have a solution to propose?

    Actually, I have a product that fits between the line (or the telephone output from the box) and the base of the cordless phone.
    If someone doesn't hang up at the end of the call (common!) or places the phone back improperly on the base (common), the line can stay blocked for a long time (busy....) and you can no longer reach the person.
    This product frees up the line and makes it available again... it costs only 50 euros....

      The device is called the Rac'oubli.
      It is currently in limited release and a few copies are available and will soon be marketed. It is designed for cordless phones (which are often not placed back on the base or left on a table without being hung up...classic among elderly people). It is compatible with modems. The next model will also be designed for wired phones (with the receiver on the end of a cord...). Contact: pbiette at wanadoo.

    Hello,
    This is an issue with your telephone line, please contact your service provider.
    The new cordless handsets disconnect when placed back on their base, but normally the line should be disconnected when there is no longer a participant on the line.

      No, if I understood the question correctly, it's a cordless phone (DECT type) and simply placing it back on its base at the end of a call doesn't "hang up" ... and leaves the line appearing as busy (even though the other party has hung up on their side).

      Yes, indeed, when you place it back on the base (after having made a call on my mobile), it hangs up automatically...

      I had never tried it.... since I either use it with the amplifier while leaving it on the base (and therefore hang up with the appropriate button) or hold the handset, but even then, I always have the reflex to press the "hang up" button...

      At the same time, this mode of operation is not very practical; for example, if the battery starts to be low, you can't put it on charge on the base without it hanging up (so you have to notify the other person and call back....)

    We should check the phone manual used to see if the "auto hang-up" setting when placed on the base is possible or not....

    I don't actually know if this function exists or not (I personally have a Gigaset S455, and out of curiosity I looked at the manual and apparently this function is not offered...)

    It might be worth looking into phones that are more specifically designed for people with various difficulties

      Indeed, check if the line has a problem.... Since it seems that the hang-up should be automatic when the receiver is placed back on the base... This surprises me, but after testing at home, that's indeed the case..........

      Possibly, test the phone used on another line..... if the hang-up is "ok" this will confirm that the issue is indeed with the line.

      This is how it works, let's note that this feature (automatic pick-up and hang-up depending on whether the handset leaves the base) is a variable option and may be configurable. I currently have 2 DECT bases on the same line, on one it picks up/hangs up when I take the handset off the base after ringing, and on the other it doesn't....
