Hello, I have a PS2 that I haven’t turned on in a long time (at least a year). When I put in a game, it starts, but during the game loading, the drive makes a lot of noise and the game freezes. Should I change the entire drive or just clean the lens? Thank you.

Problem solved,
Disassembly of the PS2 and the drive cover as well as the tray.
On the left, there is a worm screw and a plastic piece connected to the lens; you need to place a piece of cardboard under the worm screw and then clean the worm screw. Reassembly, no more loud noises and freezes in games, but of course there are always the usual sounds due to the friction of the plastic piece against the screw so that the lens can move over the CD.

Indeed, I saw readers for 10€ from Hong Kong on eBay.
Well, I'll try to clean the lens.
But the noise I hear is definitely coming from the motor of the reader and not from the lens, right?
