Hello everyone,
I'm reaching out because my Minecraft is glitching, as usual.
When I click on the game's icon, instead of launching the launcher.jar, it auto-updates without me asking for anything. When the update is downloaded, the launcher doesn't start and the window closes. I restart Minecraft and it starts downloading the update again. Vicious circle. How do I get rid of this problem?
I have already tried completely deleting the .minecraft folder (its contents) and launching Minecraft, but nothing works.
Sometimes, another equally lovely message pops up: downloading "runtime".
I know I can launch the launcher.jar directly, but I prefer the computer to do it for me :p
Thanks in advance.
I'm on Mac, if that helps ;D
When I turn off my Wi-Fi, Minecraft launches without any issues.

But what do you mean by the new beta launcher? I haven't downloaded anything like that unless Minecraft updated itself.
Can you check your .minecraft folder?
And your environment variables, haha?
Also, thank you for the attention given to my question, which has gone unanswered on other forums.
