Hello everyone,
I'm reaching out because my Minecraft is glitching, as usual.
When I click on the game's icon, instead of launching the launcher.jar, it auto-updates without me asking for anything. When the update is downloaded, the launcher doesn't start and the window closes. I restart Minecraft and it starts downloading the update again. Vicious circle. How do I get rid of this problem?
I have already tried completely deleting the .minecraft folder (its contents) and launching Minecraft, but nothing works.
Sometimes, another equally lovely message pops up: downloading "runtime".
I know I can launch the launcher.jar directly, but I prefer the computer to do it for me :p
Thanks in advance.
I'm on Mac, if that helps ;D
When I turn off my Wi-Fi, Minecraft launches without any issues.

Hello,
can you tell me if you have modified Java?
do you have the official version?
are you using the new beta launcher?-

No issues with the .minecraft, as for the Java environment variables, I don't know what that is, but no one else but me has access to the computer, and it's not within my skills to "tackle" Java; I haven't touched it. Everything is really "default" as if it's the first time the game has been launched.
Also, thank you for the attention given to my question, which has gone unanswered on other forums. -
