Wireless canon mg3550 printer not working!

Hello,
I've never had any issues, nor with scanning or printing, but today, it's just not working at all! The lights on the printer are fine. My computer recognizes the printer well... but nothing happens.
When I start the scan, the following message appears:
"Scanning
Warming up the scanner...
Do not open the printer lid"
So far, so good
then the following message appears:
"ScanGear
Cannot communicate with the scanner for the following reasons:
- the scanner is turned off (I've checked everything, it's all on)
- the signal strength is weak due to an obstruction (I'm next to the printer)
- the network connection is blocked by security software (I'm on free Avast and I don't know where to look in the settings!!)
- another scanner on the network is selected (I only have one)"

There you go, I know it's a bit silly, it might be something small, but honestly, I don't see why it's not working all of a sudden! Something is eluding me...

Thank you for taking the time to read everything, and if you have any ideas, I'm all ears..

    Hello,
did this problem occur after a multifunction printer update, or after a system update, or perhaps after an antivirus update?

    Best regards.

I'm really not sure anymore... but maybe an antivirus update... how can I check, I need to go to the settings, but what else?
    Thank you for your help.

      Hi,
Especially the printer if connected via Wi-Fi through the router and not in direct Wi-Fi, you need to be next to the box for a good signal. I had this issue with another model from a different brand! Close to the box it's fine, but far away it gets stuck and it's very slow... because the connection goes first through the box (COMPUTER -> Box/Router -> Printer) before it goes to the printer, and not COMPUTER -> Printer as might be assumed (unless configured for direct Wi-Fi).

    Hello,

"being next to the printer" doesn't necessarily mean that the signal will be picked up for sure! Waves are unpredictable! The same goes for Bluetooth...
It all depends on where the server is located for the Wi-Fi. And even then! The signal can indeed be weak...

If that's the case, the network connects and then disconnects, etc., and it becomes a hassle!

On the other hand, it would be quite surprising if the antivirus is to blame. At worst, you would need to disable it while printing. I don't have Avast, but it must surely be possible. Otherwise, type "Avast, disable antivirus" into Google and you'll likely find an answer.

The ScanGear function you mentioned corresponds to the scanner drivers. Either it needs to be updated, or it's poorly installed.
I have a Canon myself, but not this model; I had to update the data about a month ago. Check here: https://ij.manual.canon/ij/webmanual/ScanGear/M/MFP/19.1/FR/SG/Sg-963.html

    Happy holidays ^^
