Hello my friends! :)
I just moved to Bora-bora and I have a really crappy connection (50kb/s with a lot of dropouts)
Being a gaming fan, I can't do without it. That's why I'm replaying Mount and Blade (which doesn't require any connection). The thing is, I want to download a mod of 1.35GB...And when I start the download after a few minutes the file cancels due to internet interruptions.
That's why I’m turning to your knowledge: Is it possible to "transform" a direct download link into a torrent? (Torrent because even if my connection drops, I can resume without a problem)
If you have the solution, or even an alternative solution to my problem...I’m all ears!
And if it's not possible...Could a kind soul upload it for me as a torrent? :D

I HAVE THE ANSWER TO YOUR PROBLEM!!!
well... it doesn't turn a link into µtorrent but it does mean that when there is a drop it stops then it continues! plus it's faster!!! The program is called wxDownload Fast !!! http://dfast.sourceforge.net/download.html and if you have problems with online video games or you just want to boost your connection, I recommend NetBalancer to choose which programs you want to prioritize for internet!
I hope I answered your question and gave you some extra tips ;)

yes with IDM you click resume and it continues your download from where it stopped if you're at 60% it continues 61 etc.
you can even run several at once and use scheduling it downloads 1 by 1 or more as you want and you can shut down your PC when everything is finished no need to be there
but with your super speed 1 it's already good.
for torrents same thing
