Windows cannot access \\

Hello everyone,

I have 2 desktop PCs and 3 laptops at home. They are all networked under Windows 10.
Same workgroup.
All the hard drives are recognized from any machine to any machine. You can access the hard drives of all machines from all the others, except in two cases:

The two desktop PCs cannot access the hard drives. They appear on the network, but when trying to access them, I get the following message:

Windows cannot access \\Left\c

I've been going in circles for 48 hours. For your information, this started happening after I changed one of the two PCs. So the configuration of the first PC is logically correct since it worked before with the old desktop and continues to function with all the laptops in the house.

Thank you for your advice.

Hello,
A firewall?
The network is indeed private, not public?
Is Left the actual name of the network share?

and ... Here you go!

I tested without the firewall to be sure and that's not it.

Left is the name of the desktop PC.

Where do I check for the private/public question?

In Network and Sharing Center.
In principle, you do not share an entire drive, but only a folder; this network is built on a shaky foundation.
Windows should give you a warning when you share at the root, shouldn't it?
Shared drives are limited to administrative shares (c$...)
Only the local administrator account can access administrative shares, whereas ordinary accounts access folder shares by default.
I think your network shares had the chance to "fall into place" while they are set up poorly, in Windows terms, that's why it's unstable.
Network sharing rules:
share folders on the network of a single machine (file server)
share a folder, not a drive
configure client user accounts on the "server"
And everything will go smoother.
You do not share everything in every direction; it is a nightmare to manage and for security.
