Online on Messenger but not replying to my texts

Hello everyone!
I want to share my problem with you because it has been torturing me for a week...
So here it is, this morning I sent a text to my boyfriend and I haven't received a reply from him.
In the afternoon, I logged onto my Facebook and saw that he was online on Messenger and liking posts on Facebook, while he still hasn't replied to me, especially since he's logging onto Facebook with his mobile phone.
What do you think? Can Messenger show that someone is online while they are actually offline? Please, help me...

    Send him a private message on Facebook to see if he replies.
